On the 12th July The Cottingham Singers performed their annual summer concert to a very appreciative and at times singing along audience. The concert was held at The Bricknell Avenue Methodist Church. The programme was as usual, extremely varied and entertaining, featuring songs from Louis Armstrong to Simon & Garfunkel and Walt Disney. Our thanks and appreciation were expressed to Marlene our wonderful accompanist, for her continued hard work and patience. And of course to Paul our MD for his skill and dedication throughout the past year. Our nominated charity for the evening was ‘The Royal Society of Musicians of Great Britain’.
On the 18th June 2017 The Cottingham Singers once again appeared at The Cottingham Open Garden Day Event. Congratulations to our Debbie Code and her family, for organizing a very pleasant event. The day was a huge success with stalls, cakes and refreshments. The sun shone brightly, and a good time was had by all. £520 was raised for Dove House Hospice, so well done to all.
On the 14th December 2016 at the Bricknell Avenue Methodist Church, The Cottingham Singers gave their much anticipated Christmas Concert, to a very appreciative audience. The programme included many sing-along favourites, plus traditional carols new to us all, which were very well received. The concert also raised welcomed funds for the local ‘Kickstart TYA Cancer Support’. The choir showed their thanks and appreciation to Marlene and Paul for all their hard work, with the giving of flowers and voucher respectfully.
The Cottingham Singers performed at The Darby & Joan Hall on the afternoon of the 8th of December 2016 to a packed-out audience for the Cottingham branch of the U 3 A’s. This was a return performance, when once again, all enjoyed many Christmas favourite’s and a few carols which were not so familiar.
On the 8th of October the choir performed at Derringham Bank Methodist Church, Hull. Although we had a small audience, our concert was enjoyed and well received by everyone. Our choirmaster Paul, sang a solo piece during a Gilbert and Sullivan classic, which went down very well.
Our annual Summer concert took place on 13th July at Bricknell Avenue Methodist Church. The nominated charity was The Hull Samaritans, for whom we raised over £160. The choir presented a varied programme of music,including some solo’s, for which we thank the members. At the end of the concert, customary tokens of thanks were presented to our choirmaster Paul, and to our accompanist, Marlene, on behalf of the members for their continued hard work this year. The concert concluded our summer programme for 2016, as we look forward to our Christmas Concert.
June 2016, The Cottingham Singers performing songs from assorted musicals- The choir were supporting ‘Cottingham Open Gardens’ for Dove House Hospice. Hopefully we will be performing at the same venue next June, weather permitting!
